This just came out in the most recent Chronicle of Higher Education -Almanac Issue, 2008-09 (vol. LV, #1). Click on the table to see the enlarged version. The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) compiles this information.

Categories from left to right are: Rank, Total Library expenditures, Salaries and Wages of Professional Staff, Total Library Materials Expenditures, and Professional plus Support Staff.

Here are the most recent statistics titles and a few others. Attention Indiana-Bloomington Statisticians: you can get your library books mailed to you (your office, not your nearest library).
